ACTEURS PRINCIPAUX
Principal Actresses
At 55, Angie embodies cultural duality: integrated into life in Montreal while carrying the weight of her Chinese heritage. Her devotion hides a quiet resentment, fueled by the pressure of traditions—where placing a parent in a care home is seen as betrayal. She struggles with guilt, as in many Asian cultures, putting one’s parents in a retirement home is deeply frowned upon. Yet caring for her mother has become too much to manage alone, and she now needs outside help. Angie’s journey explores the guilt of a generation caught between love, filial duty, and human limits—a conflict intensified by Polly’s unpredictable nature.

Principal Actresses
Cindy is Polly’s granddaughter and Angie’s daughter. A 21-year-old university student, she enjoys the freedom and activity that come with being in her twenties. Although she understands the family situation, her youth and focus on her own life mean she doesn’t feel responsible for caring for her grandmother. As a result, she takes little initiative to ease Angie’s burden.

Lead Roles (Photo submissions only)
A strong-willed young woman, Anna tries to preserve her family legacy while facing the growing precarity of her island community. Torn between the need to sell her ancestral land and her deep attachment to her roots, she has a close yet conflicted relationship with her deaf-mute father, Victor. Her romantic relationship with Fabio helps her gain perspective, although social and family tensions threaten their balance.
Lead Roles (Photo submissions only)
An aging, deaf-mute fisherman, Victor is deeply rooted in Azorean traditions. A powerless witness to the destruction of his world through tourism and the decline of fishing, he clings to a mythical vision of the ocean. His bond with his daughter Anna—built on silence and gestures—is shaken by the sale of the family land, creating a painful rift between them despite unwavering love.
Lead Roles (Photo submissions only)
Anna’s partner, Fabio is a clear-sighted and kind worker employed by the developer of the tourist resort. He sincerely loves Anna and helps her navigate her inner conflicts, offering an external perspective on the dilemma between modernity and tradition. His calm demeanor contrasts with the family tensions, though their relationship is tested by the complexity of Anna’s decisions.

Whether for a film or commercial project, Victor Tremblay-Blouin favors partnerships between unknown actors and experienced actors. He likes to contribute to the training of actors as well as to the well-being of people on set. For him, a close-knit team enhances the atmosphere on set, from start to finish.
Because of his great sensitivity, Victor believes that empathy and the inclusion of marginalized people are central aspects of his casting agency. Questioning and rethinking creative and social standards are also second nature to him.
It was after the resounding success of the 2018 Oscar-nominated film Fauve that Casting VTB solidified its presence in the Quebec cultural scene. Since then, it has contributed to numerous projects that shine both locally and internationally.
As a trained actor, Victor also offers coaching services. He likes to encourage actors to step out of their comfort zone, notably through improvisation, in order to push the limits of their acting.
Casting VTB includes among its growing list of collaborators Montreal Children’s Hospital, Loto Québec, Desjardins, National Bank, FTQ, Air Transat, Bell, Vidéotron, Du Proprio, Tipos, Fondation du Canadien de Montréal and eBay, to name but a few.
